Phils Can't Back Up Bastardo

The Phillies lost 7-2 but on the bright side Antonio Bastardo pitched well. Bastardo pitched seven innings and gave up four earned runs. He really gave most of the bullpen a night off. The pen has been way overused this season but tonight they only had to use Jack Taschner. Taschner pitched two innings and gave up three earned runs.
The Phillies scored two runs in the first inning but after that it was all downhill from there. The Orioles scored three runs in the second, then one in the sixth. It was 4-2 going into the eighth inning and Jack Taschner came into keep the deficit the same. He threw a scoreless eighth inning but in the ninth he gave up three runs. The Phillies went on to lose there fourth game in a row.
UP NEXT
Phillies:Happ has struggled his previous two starts against the Mets and Red Sox, going 0-0 with a 7.36 ERA. Opponents hit .302 against him in those two games. That's after he went 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in his first three starts since he replaced right-hander Chan Ho Park in the rotation. Opponents hit just .177 against him in that stretch. There is no question Happ is hoping to get back on track against the Orioles. On the good side of Happ's last start he did battle through and pitched six innings against the Red Sox and only gave up four runs.
Orioles:Bergesen tossed his first career complete game in his last outing, picking up his fourth win against the Atlanta Braves. Bergesen threw 112 pitches, giving up two earned runs on five hits. The right-hander also walked two and struck out three.
