On Tuesday, Brad Lidge was sent to the 15-day disabled list with a knee sprain. The Phillies have called up catcher Paul Bako from Reading to replace Lidge on the 25 man roster. The Phillies will likely use Ryan Madson as the Phillies closer while Lidge is on the disabled list. Madson is 2-1 with a 2.22 ERA in 29 games this season. I personally thought that Lidge was pitching better as of lately. Despite Lidge blowing two saves last weekend, Friday night wasn't all his fault. If Pedro Feliz cashes in on the routine groundball that would of been a save. Even though he did give up the homerun to Rafael Furcal on Saturday that tied the game, I like that he didn't give up any more runs after that and kept the game tied.
The Phillies new catcher Paul Bako was signed to a minor league deal on May 18. Since then, Bako was hitting .357, with 10 RBIs in 42 at-bats at Reading.
